Ukraine deploys razor fence that slices attacking drones
Original: Ukraine rolls out drone-stopping razor fence to thwart attacks
Ukraine is deploying a new razor-wire barrier designed to stop attacking drones by physically cutting through their control cables as they fly low toward targets. The technology targets fibre-optic-controlled drones, which have become a major threat on the battlefield because they resist electronic jamming. Commenters are discussing whether such low-tech countermeasures can keep pace with the rapid evolution of drone warfare.
Why now: Drone attacks remain a defining feature of the war, and a simple physical countermeasure is a novel development drawing attention.
