No recommendation issued in State Board of Education District 9 race
Original: No recommendation in the race for State Board of Education, District 9
The Dallas Morning News has declined to make an endorsement in the race for Texas State Board of Education, District 9, stating simply that there is no recommendation for voters in this contest. The seat is on the board that sets curriculum and policy for Texas public schools. The paper regularly issues recommendations in contested races, so withholding one in this district stands out to readers following the election.
Why now: The newspaper's choice not to endorse in a normally contested State Board of Education race is unusual and draws reader attention.
