Premier League critics renew calls to regulate foreign ownership

Original: As # FIFAworldcup winner, Alf Ramsey, would say, it's not just # ManCity /#MCFC - the whole # PremierLeague is a greedy

Commentators are reviving criticism of the Premier League as a 'greedy foreign farce', invoking England's 1966 World Cup winning manager Alf Ramsey to argue that top-flight football has drifted from its local roots. The complaint extends beyond Manchester City to the league as a whole, with calls for regulation to restore meaningful competition dominated by local players and clubs rather than overseas money.

Why now: Ongoing frustration over foreign ownership and financial power in English football is driving debate about league regulation.
