A community group in Devon has built a platform, River Hub, to monitor sewage spills and storm overflows into the River Dart. Locals describe the scale of pollution as shocking, and the effort has drawn attention to the wider state of England's rivers and the performance of water companies and the Environment Agency.
Why now: Public anger over sewage pollution of UK rivers remains high, and community-led monitoring highlights the issue afresh.
