Spanish politics: Junts and the lentils economy quip
Original: economía
The word 'economía' is trending in Spain amid political debate, with La Vanguardia running the pointed headline '¿Lentejas? Junts las deja' — a reference to the Junts party and budget/economic negotiations. The phrase plays on the Spanish saying about lentils, suggesting the party is walking away from an economic deal. Readers are weighing in on what Junts's stance means for Spain's economy and the government's parliamentary arithmetic.
Why now: Ongoing budget and economic negotiations in Spain have put Junts's position, and the economy generally, at the center of public attention.
