DOJ asks judge to let Trump reinstate press ban
Original: DOJ asks judge to let Trump reinstate ban on CNN, MS NOW & POLITICO
The US Department of Justice has asked a judge to allow President Trump to reinstate a ban barring CNN, MS NOW and Politico, according to CNN reporting. The move renews a fight over the administration's ability to exclude news outlets it disfavors, drawing criticism from press freedom advocates who argue it targets journalists for their coverage.
Why now: It reignites debate over press freedom and the administration's control of media access, a recurring flashpoint in Trump's White House.
