Mississippi raises the bar for school letter grades
Original: Mississippi increases standards schools must meet for letter grades
Mississippi has increased the standards that schools must meet to earn their letter grades, according to the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal. The move means schools will need stronger performance on state accountability measures to achieve top ratings. The change is likely to prompt discussion among educators, parents and officials about how schools across the state will be affected under the tougher criteria.
Why now: Higher accountability standards directly affect how schools statewide are rated and perceived.
