Guardian columnist George Monbiot has argued that a third runway at Heathrow would be an expensive disaster for Britain and the planet, saying it contradicts climate priorities and calls for flying less, not more. He is pressing Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham to oppose the expansion, framing the debate as human welfare versus short-term economic growth.
