Milorad Dodik, the Bosnian Serb leader, has declared that Bosnia is 'dead' in remarks made ahead of an upcoming election, according to Al Jazeera. The statement escalates longstanding tensions between the Serb-led entity of Republika Srpska and Bosnia's central state institutions, and is drawing attention as voters head to the polls amid ongoing disputes over the country's future and separatist rhetoric.
Why now: Separatist rhetoric from a senior Bosnian politician right before an election raises fears of renewed instability in the Balkans.
