Writer calls for more Denzel Washington, Chris Pine-style thrillers in 2026
Original: I just watched Denzel and Chris Pine's disaster thriller and we need more movies like this in 2026
A film writer says they just rewatched the 2010 disaster thriller Unstoppable, starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine, and argues Hollywood should make more movies like it in 2026. The piece praises the stripped-down, high-velocity runaway-train format and suggests audiences are hungry for practical, propulsive action thrillers rather than franchise spectacle.
Why now: Nostalgia for taut, practical action thrillers and discussion of what kinds of movies Hollywood should release in 2026.
