Sudan's armed forces say they have taken control of a strategically important town in North Kordofan after clashes with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. The gain marks another step in the army's advance in the Kordofan region, where fighting has intensified as the two-year war between the military and the RSF grinds on, displacing millions and deepening a humanitarian crisis.
