Rights Defenders Face Trial in Greece
Original: Greece: Rights Defenders on Trial
Human Rights Watch reports that human rights defenders in Greece are being put on trial, raising concerns about the treatment of activists and humanitarian workers in the country. The organisation has previously criticised Greek authorities for prosecuting people who assist migrants and asylum seekers, arguing that such cases criminalise solidarity and basic humanitarian assistance.
Why now: Human rights organisations are drawing attention to what they view as the unjust prosecution of people helping migrants in Greece.
