Original: A gut punch in Ohio: Nearly 1,400 laid off at truck factory just days before Trump rally
A truck manufacturing plant in Ohio is laying off nearly 1,400 workers, with the announcement landing just days before a Donald Trump rally in the state. Outlets across the political spectrum are covering the cuts, which workers described as a gut punch. The timing has drawn attention because Ohio is a key political battleground and Trump has campaigned heavily on protecting manufacturing jobs.
Why now: The layoffs' timing just before a Trump rally in a politically contested state has made the job losses a flashpoint in campaign coverage.
