The 1942 horror film Cat People is being discussed by classic film enthusiasts, who note that while it is not strictly film noir, it remains influential. The Val Lewton production is credited with popularising the 'Lewton Bus', a famous jump-scare technique compared in stature to the Wilhelm Scream, and it inspired a 1980s remake that some feel has been forgotten.

Why now: Classic cinema fans are debating the film's place in the noir canon and celebrating its lasting influence on horror technique.
