Original: Sources - Grizzlies waive Jordan Hawkins weeks after Pels trade
The Memphis Grizzlies have waived guard Jordan Hawkins, according to ESPN sources, just weeks after acquiring him from the New Orleans Pelicans. The move cuts short his stint with the franchise and comes early in the season as Memphis adjusts its roster, leaving the young shooter free to sign with another club.
Why now: It is surprising for a recently traded player to be waived so soon, prompting speculation about Memphis's roster plans.
