New York's governor says she is 'disturbed' by a rape investigation at Cornell University and has assigned the state attorney general to take over the case. The move shifts the inquiry from local handling to statewide oversight, and is drawing attention to how the university and authorities respond to sexual violence on campus.
Why now: The governor's unusual decision to hand a campus rape case to the state attorney general is a significant escalation drawing public attention.
