Report: Trump administration barring more immigrants from Muslim-majority countries
Original: Report: Trump administration increasingly barring immigrants from Muslim-majority countries
A new report says the Trump administration is increasingly barring immigrants from Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States. The findings point to a widening use of restrictions and vetting measures that disproportionately affect nationals of these countries. Immigration advocates are expected to criticize the policy as discriminatory, while supporters frame it as a national security measure.
Why now: Fresh reporting on US immigration restrictions affecting Muslim-majority countries has drawn renewed attention to the policy debate.
