Fossil fuel firms trade blame over NT well cleanup failures
Original: This is rich. # FossilFuelCompanies blaming each other (as well as the NT govenment) for their own failures to clean up
Fossil fuel companies operating in Australia's Northern Territory are pointing fingers at one another, and at the NT government, over decommissioned wells left uncleaned. Critics are calling the mutual blame-shifting a dodge of responsibility, arguing the companies themselves are responsible for rehabilitating the sites and should not pass the cost or fault to regulators or rivals.
Why now: Public frustration is growing over abandoned wells and who should pay for their cleanup in the Northern Territory.
