Chip City cookie chain abruptly shuts down all locations
Chip City, the New York-based cookie chain known for its gooey, oversized treats, has suddenly closed every one of its locations with no advance warning to customers or staff. The abrupt shutdown has left employees and fans blindsided, and the company has not yet given a clear public explanation for why it ceased operations all at once.
Why now: A popular chain closing all stores overnight, apparently without warning, is unexpected and raises questions about the company's finances and workers' futures.
