Ex-FAO official says he was fired for reporting Gaza famine

A former Food and Agriculture Organization employee says he was dismissed after denouncing famine conditions in Gaza. According to teleSUR, the ex-official claims his public warnings about hunger in the territory led to his removal from the UN agency, a charge that raises questions about whether international bodies are suppressing staff who speak out on the humanitarian crisis.
Why now: Claims that a UN agency retaliated against a whistleblower over Gaza famine warnings are prompting debate about impartiality and censorship in international organisations.
