Netanyahu to keep UN visit brief amid arrest call from New York mayor
Original: Netanyahu's UN trip will be quick after New York Mayor called for his arrest, Israel envoy says
Israeli officials say Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the United Nations in New York will be cut short following the city mayor's call for his arrest over the war in Gaza. An Israeli envoy confirmed the shortened trip, framing it as a response to the political climate around the leader's arrival. The remarks have drawn wide attention as the UN meeting approaches.
Why now: The New York mayor's call to arrest a sitting foreign leader ahead of the UN General Assembly is an unusual and provocative development.
