Original: Exclusive | ‘No retreat’: key Trump ally urges continued US-China engagement on rare earths
A prominent ally of Donald Trump is calling for the United States to keep up engagement with China on rare earths, saying there should be 'no retreat' from the diplomatic track. The comments, reported exclusively by the South China Morning Post, underline how critical minerals remain a central sticking point in trade talks between Washington and Beijing, which both sides have been trying to stabilise.
Why now: Rare earths are a flashpoint in ongoing US-China trade negotiations, and a Trump ally publicly backing continued engagement signals a notable stance within the president's camp.
