Bazzite PC maxes out Ethernet where Xbox fell short
Original: I have my BazziteOS machine plugged into the same Ethernet cable I used to plug my Xbox into. Steam regularly maxes out
A gamer running BazziteOS, the Linux-based gaming OS, swapped their old Xbox for a PC on the same Ethernet cable and found Steam downloads regularly saturate their full 1 Gbps connection, while the console rarely exceeded 500 Mbps. They frame it as a simple observation while waiting for a new game to download, but it feeds ongoing discussion about Steam's download speeds compared with consoles.
Why now: People are comparing Steam's download performance on Linux gaming setups against consoles like the Xbox.
Evidence
- I have my BazziteOS machine plugged into the same Ethernet cable I used to plug my Xbox into. Steam regularly maxes out my 1GB network while the Xbox rarely ever communicated at more than 500 Mbps. No grand message here, just waiting for a new game to download. # gaming # steam… · alisynthesis@io.waxandleather.com · 2
