Jaishankar meets Canada's foreign minister at UN General Assembly
Original: Always a pleasure to meet FM @AnitaAnandMP of Canada #UNGA81 A productive discussion as we prepare to take the relations
Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly, describing the discussion as productive and saying both sides aim to take India-Canada relations to a higher level. The meeting is being watched for signs of a thaw after a prolonged diplomatic rift between Ottawa and New Delhi.
Why now: India-Canada ties have been strained in recent years, so any high-level meeting suggesting a reset draws attention.
