Russian Su-35 said to have downed own Mi-8 helicopter
Original: A Muscoy Su-35 shot down its own Mi-8 in russia’s Voronezh region after mistaking it for a drone, russian Z-channels say
Russian pro-war channels claim a Su-35 fighter shot down a Mi-8 helicopter over the Voronezh region after mistaking it for a Ukrainian drone. According to the reports, three crew members were killed in the friendly-fire incident. The claims have not been independently confirmed, and Russian authorities have not publicly commented on the reported loss.
Why now: A friendly-fire incident killing a Russian helicopter crew would be a notable embarrassment amid heavy drone activity and tense air defences.
