Dwarf crocodiles in Gabon's caves caught hunting bats

Original: 🐊 NEW: In # Gabon ’s # Abanda Caves, dwarf # crocodiles roughly 1.5 meters long live in permanent darkness among mounds

Researchers have recorded dwarf crocodiles hunting inside Gabon's Abanda Caves for the first time. The roughly 1.5-metre-long reptiles live in permanent darkness among mounds of bat guano, and although scientists knew they ate bats, remote cameras have now captured them snatching bats mid-flight, offering a rare look at one of the world's most unusual predator-prey relationships.

Why now: First-ever footage of cave-dwelling crocodiles catching bats in total darkness is a striking scientific discovery.
