US Immigration and Customs Enforcement is facing renewed condemnation from critics who accuse the agency of cruelty toward migrant children. Detractors point to young children appearing in immigration court without legal representation, cases of children driven to suicide, and thousands of families held in detention facilities they describe as concentration camps. Activists are calling for the agency to be abolished.
Why now: Renewed public anger over ICE's detention and deportation practices involving children is circulating widely on social media.
Evidence
- ICE continues its cruelty. From toddlers representing themselves in court, to children driven to suicide, to thousands of people caged in concentration camps – it’s horrifying that these rogue thugs are a part of our government. We won’t rest until we end ICE terror. # ice #… · digyoursoul@universeodon.com · 5
