Lupin III marks 55 years of anime with fan-voted special
Original: アニメ
Japan is celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Lupin III anime. Nippon TV has launched 'Lupin III Masterpiece Selection', a 13-episode Saturday late-night run chosen by fan vote, kicking off with the top-ranked episode. The current main voice cast, including Kanichi Kurita, Akio Otsuka, Mamoru Miyano-era successors Kaito Takahashi's fellow actors such as Miyuki Sawashiro and Koichi Yamadera, provide special narration, while Laforet Harajuku hosts a commemorative pop-up store.
Why now: The Lupin III anime's 55th anniversary and the start of the fan-voted broadcast this weekend are driving Japanese conversation.
