Protesters disrupt Mahmoud Khalil book event
Protesters disrupted a book event featuring Mahmoud Khalil, the Palestinian-American activist and Columbia University graduate who was detained by US immigration authorities in 2025 and later released. Details about the organizers, location, and scale of the disruption remain limited, but the incident adds to ongoing controversy surrounding Khalil's activism and his case, which became a flashpoint in debates over free speech, pro-Palestinian advocacy, and immigration enforcement in the United States.
Why now: Khalil remains a polarizing figure in the debate over pro-Palestinian activism and free speech in the US, drawing both support and opposition.
