Kennedy Center Honors relocate amid building closure and Trump dispute
Original: Kennedy Center Honors move to new venue amid building closure and Trump dispute
The Kennedy Center Honors, one of America's premier arts awards, will be held at a different venue this year as the Washington, D.C. landmark undergoes a building closure. The move also comes amid an ongoing dispute involving President Trump, who has taken a hands-on role at the institution, prompting criticism from some honorees and artists. The changes have fueled debate over the politicisation of a traditionally nonpartisan celebration.
Why now: The unusual relocation and the clash with Trump have drawn attention to growing political tensions around the Kennedy Center.
