Electrified pickle demo lights up electrostatics meeting

Original: 🥒 NEW: Electrical engineer Joshua Méndez Harper demonstrated an electrified # pickle at an Electrostatics Society of Ame

Electrical engineer Joshua Méndez Harper demonstrated an electrified pickle at an Electrostatics Society of America meeting. His Portland State University team filmed the glowing snack with a high-speed camera and monitored it with a hydrogen sensor, showing that the alternating current passing through it produces both light and hydrogen gas during the classic demonstration.

Why now: The familiar glowing-pickle classroom demo is being given a fresh scientific analysis, drawing attention from physics enthusiasts.
