EU firmly opposes any US ban on diesel exports
Original: franceinfo: L' # Union # européenne s'oppose "catégoriquement" à une interdiction des # exportations # américaines de #
The European Union says it categorically opposes any American restriction or ban on diesel exports, according to franceinfo. Europe relies heavily on imported US diesel, and the statement signals concern that such a measure would hit European energy supplies and prices. The news is drawing commentary and scepticism from readers questioning the framing of the standoff.
Why now: US diesel exports are critical to European energy supply, so any threat to restrict them raises fears over prices and shortages.
