DCCC puts Van Drew's South Jersey district on 2026 target list
Original: DCCC adds Van Drew’s South Jersey district to 2026 target list
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has added New Jersey's 2nd District, represented by Republican Jeff Van Drew, to its list of targeted seats for the 2026 midterm elections. The move signals that national Democrats see the South Jersey district as winnable and plan to invest resources there. Van Drew, a former Democrat who switched parties in 2019, has won reelection several times since his party change, but Democrats believe shifting conditions could make the seat competitive next cycle.
Why now: National Democrats formally designating the seat as a 2026 pickup opportunity signals a competitive and well-funded race ahead.
