NFL fines 49ers owner Jed York $500K, suspends him six games
Original: NFL hands 49ers' Jed York $500K fine, 6-game suspension after owner arrested while responding to fake prostitution ad
The NFL has reportedly fined San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York $500,000 and suspended him for six games after he was arrested while responding to what turned out to be a fake prostitution advertisement. The punishment ranks among the most severe handed to an NFL owner, and reaction is focused on how the league disciplines team leadership rather than just players.
Why now: The league rarely suspends a team owner, making the severity of the punishment a striking story.
