Original: "California is building two wildlife crossings for mountain lions in Joshua Tree. The first phase is now underway" # US

California has started work on two wildlife crossings designed to help mountain lions move safely through the Joshua Tree area, with the first phase now underway. The project aims to reduce roadkill and reconnect fragmented habitat for the big cats, part of a broader push in the state to build animal overpasses and underpasses along busy highways.

Why now: People are discussing it as positive conservation news following attention on mountain lion habitat fragmentation in California.
