Original: California gets a new eye in the sky to track planet-warming methane https:// slrpnk.net/post/43371292
California has gained a new satellite dedicated to monitoring methane, the potent greenhouse gas driving global warming. The orbital sensor is designed to spot leaks and emissions sources from space, giving regulators and researchers a sharper picture of where planet-warming pollution originates and helping hold polluters accountable.
Why now: Climate observers are highlighting new space-based methane monitoring as a significant step in tracking emissions behind global warming.
