49ers owner Jed York suspended six games, fined $500K

Original: jed york

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York has been suspended for six games and fined $500,000 by the NFL following his arrest in a prostitution sting. Reports say York was arrested after responding to what turned out to be a fake prostitution advertisement. The league's discipline marks an unusually severe punishment for a team owner, and sports outlets across the US are covering the fallout.

Why now: The NFL just issued a rare and severe suspension and fine against a sitting team owner, prompting widespread sports coverage.
