Painted backpacks bring Gaza children a sense of normality
Original: Painted backpacks offer children in Gaza some sense of normality
Children in Gaza are carrying backpacks decorated with painted designs, a small initiative that gives them a sense of normality amid the ongoing conflict. The project has drawn attention as an example of efforts to preserve moments of childhood for young Palestinians living through war, displacement and hardship, offering colour and routine in otherwise difficult daily circumstances.
Why now: The conflict in Gaza keeps attention on grassroots efforts to support children's wellbeing there.
