Homan rejects Republicans distancing from immigration policies
Tom Homan, the administration's border enforcement chief, has pushed back against Republican lawmakers who have sought to distance themselves from the government's hardline immigration policies. His remarks sharpen tensions inside the party, as some Republicans worry the aggressive deportation drive is hurting them politically while Homan insists the enforcement agenda should be defended, not disavowed.
Why now: Internal Republican conflict over immigration enforcement is politically sensitive heading into upcoming elections.
