NHL's Official Romance Fiction Draws Backlash From Fans
Original: The NHL Is Releasing Its Own ‘Hot’ Fanfic. Romance Lovers Hate It https:// fed.brid.gy/r/https://www.wire d.com/story/th
The NHL is releasing its own official romance fiction aimed at hockey fans, in a move that appears to tap into the popularity of hockey-themed romance novels and fanfiction. The project has drawn criticism from romance readers, who reportedly dislike the league's attempt to profit from a genre built largely by independent and fan communities.
Why now: Romance readers are reacting to a major sports league commercializing fanfiction-style romance writing.
