MSC Breaks Ground on Sandy Cay Island Development
Original: MSC breaks ground on Sandy Cay, a private island adjacent to Ocean Cay
Cruise line MSC has begun construction on Sandy Cay, a private island in the Bahamas located next to its existing Ocean Cay marine reserve. The new development signals MSC's continued expansion of its exclusive Caribbean destinations, following the model of Ocean Cay, which opened to passengers in 2019 as a private island stop on Bahamian cruises.
Why now: Cruise industry watchers are tracking MSC's growing investment in private island destinations, a competitive trend among major cruise lines.
