Ukraine says it has used a domestically developed ballistic missile in combat for the first time, according to a New York Times report. The announcement marks a significant step for Ukraine's domestic arms industry, which has been racing to produce long-range weapons as Western supply remains uncertain. The strike demonstrates Kyiv's growing capability to hit targets deep inside Russian-held territory with its own munitions.
Why now: The reported first combat deployment of a Ukrainian-built ballistic missile is a major escalation milestone in the war that draws wide attention.
