Ukraine Says It Intercepted Russian Plan to Cripple Winter Power Grid
Original: Ukraine Reveals Intercepted Russian Plan to Cripple Winter Energy Grid
Ukraine says it has obtained evidence of a Russian plan to devastate the country's energy infrastructure over the winter, aiming to leave millions without heating and electricity during the coldest months. Officials warn that repeated strikes on power plants and grids could trigger a new humanitarian crisis. The disclosure comes as Ukraine urges Western partners for faster deliveries of air defence systems and energy equipment before temperatures drop.
Why now: Winter is approaching and Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure are a recurring, highly consequential topic.
