A Washington Wizards guard has set off a storm across the NBA world after publicly suggesting the team could tank to land top draft prospect AJ Dybantsa. Fans and pundits reacted with disbelief and dark humor, joking about the league stripping the Wizards of five first-round picks or fining them for 'publicly admitting to throwing games.'

Why now: The comments are remarkable because a player openly admitted what teams usually deny — deliberately losing to secure a top draft pick.
