Rotterdam cancels JoeyAK concert over concrete threat
Original: joeyak
The city of Rotterdam has scrapped a planned performance by gangster rapper JoeyAK after authorities received a concrete threat against the artist. The municipality decided the security risk was too serious to let the show go ahead. The cancellation has reignited debate in the Netherlands about safety at drill and gangsta rap events and the threats surrounding artists in that scene.
Why now: A municipality cancelling a rap concert over an explicit threat against the artist is unusual and touches on ongoing concerns about violence around the Dutch drill scene.
