Trail Blazers fire new announcer over old posts
Original: Trail Blazers fire new announcer over past inappropriate posts
The Portland Trail Blazers have dismissed a newly hired announcer after past inappropriate social media posts came to light. The team parted ways with the broadcaster shortly after the resurfaced content was flagged, making the decision before he could begin his on-air role. It is the latest example of an NBA franchise acting quickly over a hire's offensive online history.
Why now: Sports teams are under scrutiny for vetting hires' social media histories, so the quick firing drew attention.
