Species Extinction Framed as a Humanist Concern
Original: Species Extinction is a Humanist Issue
A new commentary argues that species extinction should be treated not just as an ecological problem but as a humanist issue, implicating human values and responsibility for the loss of other forms of life. The piece urges readers to see biodiversity loss as a moral and ethical concern for humanity, not solely a scientific or conservation matter.
Why now: Biodiversity loss and extinction rates remain an ongoing public debate, and the piece reframes the issue in moral terms.
