Google Maps update reveals Gaza neighbourhoods wiped from map
Original: Google Maps update exposes Gaza's devastation as entire neighborhoods disappear
A Google Maps update has highlighted the scale of destruction in Gaza, with satellite imagery showing entire neighbourhoods that existed before the war now erased or visibly flattened. Reports note that areas once dense with buildings appear as empty terrain, offering a stark visual measure of the devastation. The changes have drawn attention online as people compare before-and-after views of the territory.
Why now: The visual contrast between pre-war and current satellite imagery of Gaza is striking and widely shared.
