Pope Leo XIV urges church to side with artists against AI

Original: "Algorithms lack the spark": Pope Leo XIV calls on church to ally with artists against AI

Pope Leo XIV said algorithms lack the human spark and called on the Catholic Church to form an alliance with artists as a counterweight to artificial intelligence. He argued that art and creativity express something machines cannot replicate, positioning artists as natural partners for the church in responding to the technology's growing influence.

Why now: The Pope's remarks connect the Catholic Church to the intensely debated cultural and ethical questions raised by artificial intelligence.
