Original: Alley Theatre's action-packed 'Romeo & Juliet' revamp is such sweet sorrow

Houston's Alley Theatre has opened a new, action-heavy production of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. A Houston Chronicle review describes the revamp as having plenty of fight and movement while ultimately carrying the play's familiar heartbreak, judging the staging a bittersweet success that honors the tragedy even as it takes creative liberties with the classic.

Why now: A fresh, physically charged staging of one of Shakespeare's best-known plays has just opened and drawn critical attention.
